Here via a link from a friend's LJ - you were plugged. :)

This is a really well-done and chilling story. I liked how all the vignettes linked together; the description is vivid; the plotting is tight.

You also have a take on Merope that is different than many writers'. As [livejournal.com profile] a_t_rain notes above, we see a lot of victim Meropes who are really sweet, just downtrodden and abused, blah blah. Your Merope is - well, we can see how her son took after her in some ways! And you can feel sorry for Tom Sr. also. Because I wouldn't want to be married to this Merope.

One quibble: I don't think the WW would ban female Aurors. Canonically, we have no evidence that witches are barred, formally or otherwise, from any profession. There is at least one other female Auror, the witch with the eye-patch, and Amelia Bones was head of Magical Law Enforcement. Harry saw witches as well as wizards in the Auror division. I think if the WW was notably sex-segregated we'd know by now. I don't know if you put in that Tonks and Emmeline were the only fully-qualified female Aurors in a long time for effect, but it did jar me out of an otherwise really excellently done fic. And I mean this is the one flaw that is worth noting. The rest is beautifully done.
