Oh, no, it more than worked. This was an extremely well written and poignant fic.
It's right next to "Christmas Blessings" as my favorite Xellas-fic.
And I don't even care too much for Hermione; she could die or end the series alive, as far as I'm concerned, but her death here gave me goosebumps
