Ahh, I'm sorry I sat on this for a few days before I read it as it is quite lovely. I like the hardened edge to Rosmerta's voice. I like that you don't back down from it and try to soften it. I like that she's the one other women (or men) go to but that she doesn't strike me as maternal.

And the snippet about Tonks and her patronus gives me much to think about. I love the concept of that change signifying a much deeper change. It makes a lot of sense. I'm unsure, however, if JKR would describe it as meaning such. Or maybe I'm just bitter that she seems to use it to announce a change that to me feels flippant. No matter, I quite like how you describe it. Seems fitting.
