I found this incredibly engrossing. I was fascinated by Jadis as you wrote her. I enjoyed watching her form her plan for escape.

"She almost -- but only almost -- wished she had not spoken the Deplorable Word. It was ironic: to speak once and render herself unintelligible forever after, unless she spoke in a foreign tongue." I love that sentence but it was one of many that made an impression on me in this story.
