75)[J]ust the sight of this book, even though it was of no authority, made me wonder how it happened that so many different men--and learned men among them--have been and are so inclined to express, both in speaking and in their treatises and writings, so many devilish and wicked thoughts about women and their behavior. -- Christine de Pizan(or de Pisan) (1365-circa 1434), Venetian-born poet, scholar, author and protofeminist. Noted as Europe's first professional author. Author of the only contemporary writing about Joan of Arc that exists outside of the records of Joan's trial. The quotation comes from her most famous work, The Book of the City of Ladies.
