Writing Pansy's part made me realise that she had a lot of reasons for fear - fear for her life and the lives of her friends. As a Slytherin, she would try to find the solution with the least cost involved for her and the ones she cares about. But this didn't have to be about harming Harry - that was just the most practical way to deal with the problem. And being Pansy, she would be too proud to mention her fears after McGonagall had thrown her out. McGonagall, on the other hand, felt like the world had been divided into black and white - it shocked me so much that she had lost her sense of fair play that I had to come up with her scene about the Cruciatus curse.

Molly adopted Harry so fast, and I believe she felt the same about Hermione - she tried to be a mother to them all, and this is, I think, her main identification, the reason for her strength.
