I am very tempted to make a claim, but I'd like a little more clarification on what is acceptable within the gen parameters of the challenge. I have a story in mind that this challenge would help me get written, but I do want to respect the rules you've set out.
(my fandom is csi:ny.) The story I have in mind would not be *about* sex or romance--it would be about Lindsay's transition from small-town Montana to New York City--but her sexuality would be a factor in the story. For the purposes of this particular story, I want to write her as a lesbian. Now, I'll be honest, I include smut in 97% of my fanfic, but if I can write this story for this challenge I will make sure that I leave out all explicit references to sex. (Sex will still implicitly happen--Lindsay's not a virgin--but I promise not to write smut.)
The piece would be set present day to the show (i.e, Lindsay is in NYC) but there would be flashbacks/memories to her life growing up in Montana that would include (but not be limited to) the first time she was attracted to another woman. In the present day of the fic, she has a small crush on a (canon) female co-worker but isn't acting on it. There may be some UST, but nothing more than a little pre-femmeslashiness (If you'd like an example of what I consider pre-femmeslashy, see this story I wrote (http://scarletts-awry.livejournal.com/34989.html)). Again, these are important elements of the story as it exists in my head, but I don't consider them centerstage. The focus will be on her personal transition to NYC and into her new job.
If what I've outlined above is within the acceptable limits of gen, I would love to take part in the challenge.
