Title: underlined for emphasis
Author[livejournal.com profile] metonomia
Fandom: Twilight, Supernatural
Rating: PG
Warnings: a little violence, even less language
Prompt: Prompt #4 - I was thought to be 'stuck up.' I wasn't. I was just sure of myself. This is and always has been an unforgivable quality to the unsure. - Bette Davis
Summary: Be the change you want to see in the world, she quotes at herself, and laughs because she'll never change again, and tells herself instead let the world change the way you want to see.
Author's Notes: I started out trying to stick fairly closely to the prompt, but the final story doesn't really have much to do with it.  The title is from T.S. Eliot's poem Whispers of Immortality, and a huge thank-you to [livejournal.com profile] be_themoon  for the beta!

Prompt: I was thought to be 'stuck up.' I wasn't. I was just sure of myself. This is and always has been an unforgivable quality to the unsure.--Bette Davis (1908-1989), Academy-Award-winning American actress, author, co-founder and president of the Hollywood Canteen, a WWII club offering free food, drink and entertainment to men and women in all branches of the armed forces and to service people of all allied countries, and first female president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Author’s Notes: The minute I got my prompt, I knew I’d be writing for Lwaxana Troi. The prompt just screamed her name for me. Which is utterly awesome, because I simply don’t write enough for her. That I inserted the Bev/Deanna relationship is just kind of a given, to be honest. Truth be told, this plot was NOT my first plot. I’d started another story a while back, but that idea just wasn’t gelling for me. So, after struggling for a long time with that other plot [which will get used at some point down the line], this idea just gelled in and of itself. This was partially because of listening to Pink’s “Ave Mary-A” while on a long plane trip, but moreso because of listening to the A Perfect View CD by Bound For Severance, particularly the track “Burial of the Saints”. At that point the story just became a frantic pounding of keys for me to get it out. The tanka that opens the story was also written by me, as it’s a favorite poem form of mine, but is supposed to be attributed to Mr. Homn within the story’s context.

All text in ~italics~ denotes telepathic speech.

Timeline Notes: The basics of Deanna and Lwaxana’s storylines and backgrounds from the series stands, tho’ this story does combine information from the various novels and comic books, as well. The differences are that Deanna and Beverly got married in 2370 and had their daughter, Kestra Felisa Howard Troi, two years later in 2372. A year after this, Lwaxana’s son was born. All of the Lwaxana background information, including the name Barin for her son, comes from here and here.

Dedication: My muses, for always giving me something to test my boundaries…

Author: [livejournal.com profile] snorkackcatcher
Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: none
Words: 2,000 approx
Characters: Andromeda, Teddy, Ted, Nymphadora, a few cameos
Prompt: 26) We can never go back again, that much is certain. The past is still too close to us. The things we have tried to forget and put behind us would stir again, and that sense of fear, of furtive unrest...might in some manner unforeseen become a living companion, as it had before. --Daphne Du Maurier (1907-1989), English author, biographer and playwright. (Kinda sorta used, in a way, but not as much as I thought it would be.)

Summary: Andromeda preserves that which is precious to her in a manner only a witch can.

Author's Notes: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lazy_neutrino for the beta. A few further notes at the end.

Summary: You don't bite what's gonna bite you back. Some people learn this the hard way.
Rating: PG-13
Words: 1,650
Warnings: hostage situation (resolved)
Prompt: 45) Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. Helen Keller (1880-1968)
Author's Notes: I didn't really use this prompt quite as I initially intended, so the connection with the story is somewhat tenuous. And there really should be more fic about Teyla and Vala causing havoc in Pegasus. Because they would. And it would be awesome.

Prompt: 16) We cannot live in a world that is not our own, in a world that is interpreted for us by others. An interpreted world is not a home. Part of the terror is to take back our own listening, to use our own voice, to see our own light. -- Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179), 12th-century German mystic, author, lyricist-composer, playwright, poet, botanist, healer and abbess
Summary: Violet Beauregarde knows what she wants out of life.
Author's Notes: The first two sections are set before the book begins, while Willy Wonka is still traveling the earth looking for reliable help. The last two sections are after the events of canon.

Violet Beauregarde’s life changed forever the year she turned seven because that was the year of her first love. )
