Oh, and I should mention that her (not necessarily romantic) relationship with the male character, though not meant to be the point of the fic, would be a strong subplot, which made me question how relevant it is. I don't want to end up posting something that's totally not the point of the challenge (though I'll probably end up writing this story either way). I can email you the fic if necessary, or you can just nix the idea and I'll come up with a second fic for the challenge.
