Drops and Extensions Post

So how is everyone doing on the FemGen stories?

I ask because it's been a horrible year for a lot of people--some people have already dropped out, and I can't find their notifications for the life of me, I'm extremely sorry to say--and I know that not everyone still has time, health, money or inclination to keep writing.

Yet...one hundred and fifty-one people signed up, and to date, seventeen people have written eighteen stories. (One girl wrote two stories.) And I'm worried that people have simply forgotten about the ficathon.

So--to make things easier--tell me how you're doing on your story. Do you need to drop out? Do you need an extension past October 1, 2009?

I thought I was going to have to drop out but at the last minute, another character took over the story and I finished 75% of it in one night. ;) So it's just waiting for a beta.

My story has taken an unexpected turn and is requiring much research. So I'm fairly sure I'll need an extension, especially since this story will require someone to poke at my Americanisms and make sure they're British instead.

I send the 4,500 words of the first draft to my beta, and I hope to make it before October 1, 2009. I didn't expect another story to explore into something over 24,000 words, which completely confused my fest schedule for this summer and autumn. Now I have two stories to finish by the end of this month.

If you would give an overall amnesty for deadline extension, that would be lovely, just to take away a bit of the pressure. I might not even need it, but it would certainly make me more relaxed. :-)

I remember it. I should be able to post something by October 1, though it may not be the same story I was originally planning. That idea... might require a more extensive story than I really feel like writing for it. (Actually, I have two ideas. I have a pretty good idea of the general plot for one; I'm just not sure about doing it justice through actual scenes. The other one, I have the opening scene clearly in mind and not the faintest idea where the plot goes after that.)

I love this ficathon and do not want to drop at all but want to be part of it. I would like to ask for an extension. My husband had a medical emergency this summer that required time in intensive care and hospitalization. Worry for him took a lot of my ability to concentrate away and dealing with his illness took a lot of my time. I am behind in my writing and would love an extension. Thank you
