So how is everyone doing on the FemGen stories?

I ask because it's been a horrible year for a lot of people--some people have already dropped out, and I can't find their notifications for the life of me, I'm extremely sorry to say--and I know that not everyone still has time, health, money or inclination to keep writing.

Yet...one hundred and fifty-one people signed up, and to date, seventeen people have written eighteen stories. (One girl wrote two stories.) And I'm worried that people have simply forgotten about the ficathon.

So--to make things easier--tell me how you're doing on your story. Do you need to drop out? Do you need an extension past October 1, 2009?

Tell me here.

Mine has been beta-read and just needs me to give it a final polish before posting. I'll try and get to it in the next few days!

I should be able to get mine in by the deadline. Muse has been reticent.

I'll have something. I'm not sure how good it will be (!) and it's not the story I'd originally planned, but I'll have something.

I should be able to post by the deadline, but thank you for the reminder.

I think I'll be able to have something by October 1st; I'm a bit worried about finding a beta though, since it's for a series without a very big fandom.

I'm still writing! I started late, due to getting ill, but am about two-thirds of the way through now. I don't think I'll need an extension, unless things go downhill.

I've been using my writing time to work on original fiction, I'm afraid, and the deadline has creeped up on me. I will switch gears and get my thousand words hammered out and betaed. An extension might be nice, though, if possible.

ETA: And by "extension" I mean only if the deadline is extended for everybody. I will make it work in the time limit.

I've started mine, at least? I'm almost always good for deadlines, even when I have a stupidly plotty fic that I should have been working on for the last month or two. Which means that I should be able to make the October 1 date (even if I have to scrap my original idea and write something shorter).

Mine stalled out partway through, but I think I've got it moving again. I'm still hoping to get it up by the first, but I may need an extension.

If you end up needing more back up writers I'd be willing.

My original idea is totally plotted and half-written, which is has been for ... a while. I'm hoping to be able to pick it up again and finish before October 1st, otherwise I may end up writing something else. But, yes, I should be good for the deadline, or way or another. (Shamefully, despite having written down the correct date, I had in my mind that the deadline was the end of October, so this post was very timely and useful, thank you!)

My muses were uncooperative, but have come up with a fairly solid idea this weekend (yay for the influence of looming deadlines!) so I hope to pull something together over the next week or so. But I'm pretty certain I'll be good for having something by the deadline.

I would like to have my story be part of this challenge, but having it done by the 10.1 is impossible. Any extension potential? Understand if not. Thanks.

School is kicking my ass. An extension would be wonderful wonderful wonderful. That being said, I've finally been bunnied, so the work is in progress. I hold to a long-standing tradition of finishing fic at the last possible moment.

I am having some unexpected work and family complications, but I do have my story basically outlined and a few hundred words of the rough draft written, and if all else fails I can write something else as a stopgap... so even if I fail to meet the October 1 deadline, I should have something up within a few days after that. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience that may cause.

I will need more time. I've been trying to make myself think and care about fandom and fanish things... but I think the last piece of fan fic I read was in April. It's just proving really hard to get myself back into it. But hopefully, I will be able to make it work. I've just lost faith in that happening before October 1st.

I'm sorry.

I have a plot outline but haven't started writing and have other deadlines first. To be honest, the chances of me getting the story done & submitted would rise greatly with an extension.

i may just scrape in at the eleventh hour, looking like a mad hedgehog, but i'll post by the deadline.

I'd love to blame my tardiness on my fandom's canon still being written, but that would be insincere at best. If I could get one of those October 15th extensions, that would be very helpful.

I'm going to try again to write this story! So no, not dropping out yet and there's no reason I shouldn't be able to make the Oct 1 deadline. *crosses fingers* We'll see!

Haven't written a word - still gauging the RSI, having returned to work - but have the story blocked out and will be completing and submitting. Though being a dumbwit I had Oct 15 as the deadline and was working to that!

Will have mine done by the 1st! (And it really does seem like it's been a tumultuous few months for a ton of people, doesn't it?)

I'm hard at work! Sorry it's taking a while, I can't get the middle bit to flow properly. Fingers crossed, though, it'll be in next week.

Thank you so much for everything you've done for the comm.

I had a truly ridiculous idea drop into my head right as I was starting the final push on my dissertation and I have yet to figure out if it's brilliant or utterly insane. It is sort of moving along and I am still hoping to have it finished by 1 October, though it may require a little extra time.
