Title: Listening to Silence
Author:
memories_child
Fandom: The X Files
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Character death.
Prompt: #13 – The truth about your own life is not always easy to accept, and sometimes hasn’t even occurred to you. – Anna Quindlen (born July 6, 1952). American author, journalist and columnist for the New York Times.
Summary: Scully reflects on her life and the choices she has made, and finally accepts the truth that is never easy to accept.
Author's Notes: This is the fifth time I’ve started something for this ficathon; the fifth story that I’ve tried to tell about these characters and this fandom with this prompt. The quote is so appropriate for almost every X Files character and I’ve written about Samantha, Scully, Teena and Diana. But this story was the one that most wanted to be told, so it’s the one that I’ve gone with. I hope that it’s ok. Thanks to
hankmoodyblues for the beta. It’s always a pleasure working with you.
How many times had you risen on mornings like this in some far flung part of the continent, chasing another of his monsters?
